He was born 05.07.1921 in Cheb in Czechoslovakia as one of the two children of a merchant with food. After studying with 01.1939 volunteered for the Luftwaffe. To 07.1941 was undergoing training in various vocational and training schools. At the end of the year 1940 promoted to the rank of Oberfähnrich, 01.02.1941 Leutnant.
From 10.1941 the commander of the aircraft and an observer in the squadron of remote sensing 33 scout group. Had many flights on the Ju 88 to support actions 17. the army on the southern section of the eastern front. 12.1941 received the Iron cross II. class four months later. class together with a clip of front-line airmen in gold. In the early summer of 1942, he transferred to 4./Aufkl.Grp. 11 followed by the mission over the Vjazmou, Běloj, Rokovem and in the Russian hinterland. 05.1942 Česný cup of the Luftwaffe, 01.02.1943 promoted to lieutenant commander. He took over the position of technical officer in long-range reconnaissance groups of 4.
146 combat flights over southern Russia, for which he received the German cross in gold 17.10.1943. After the group was translated into Greek. 27 successful sorties over the eastern Mediterranean sea, most often to survey maritime activity of the adversary. From 06.1944 became a squadron commander investigating the weather 27 on Crete, 30 sorties of great importance for their own naval forces. From 08.1944 squadron commander in the I./Fernaukl.Grp. 4.
10.10.1944 for the re-demonstration in the air of difficult situations in more than 200 combat years awarded the Knight's cross.
The winter of 1944 - transferred to Germany, where he took over the post of group commander in the Schlul-Fernaufkl.The Geschwader 103. Shortly before the end of the war he commanded the Erg.Grp. Punitz in the rank of captain ((from 01.03.1945). Then in the captivity of the western allies to 11.1947.
After the war, made a career in the industry fuel, the last time the general director of Esso Österreich. He died 31.12.1997 in Vienna.
