In the early 1950s, the French army decided to introduce a more powerful weapon in EBR armored vehicles. The weapon and turret were taken from the already produced light tank AMX 13. The cannon used was originally a prey 75 KwK 42 L/70. The French reconstructed the weapon and modified it for automatic charging.
