RG-31 Mk5 LHM

RG 31 Mk5 LHM

The first version of the RG-31 wheeled armoured personnel carrier was built in South Africa in the late 1990s. The vehicle is also used outside Africa. For example, the Canadian Army adopted the RG31 Mk3 version of these armoured personnel carriers in 2003. Other countries and other versions followed.

The RG-31 Mk5LHM vehicle was first presented to the public in May at IDET in Brno.

It was easy to spot on the polygon of the exhibition grounds, as it was the only armoured personnel carrier in pickup version, and although it had a high centre of gravity, its driver dared to run into a wall with a lateral tilt at a rather large angle.

RG31 Mk5 LHM in pickup version

Prototype produced at the end of April. Transported to the Czech Republic by air and exhibited as a seven-day old newborn at IDET in May 2009.

The production plate of the prototype vehicle is identical to the previous production version. It is worth noting the old type designation of the vehicle as well as the indication of lower engine power than was fitted to the prototype.
