The Soviet Volna K receiver was designed for ship service. It was also used in the Volna P (submarine) version on the first Soviet nuclear submarines. It was produced in three versions the difference was in the frequency ranges. It replaced the R-673 MELNIK. In CSLA it was used on airfields, especially for receiving synomtic maps. It was also used on civilian Blesna ship stations.
Volna K: 12 to 600 kHz and 1.5 to 23 MHz
Volna K-1: 12 to 1600 kHz and 5 to 23 MHz
Volna K-3: 12 to 5000 kHz
All versions had 9 subranges.
Operations: A1, A2, A3
Sensitivity: 12 to 60 kHz 7 to 10 microV, on the others 3 to 7 microV at A1,
for A3 6 - 10 mikoV
Production: 1959 to 1985 about 70,000 units produced.
