15. August 1914 was commissioned a series of 20 machines FF.29. This lightweight float biplane reconnaissance aircraft originated magnification FF.19. Entered service in the German navy in November 1914 and was used for coastal patrol and reconnaissance. 15. January 1915 was also the first aircraft that took off from the submarine, namely from the deck of the submarine U-12. The first series of 20 machines had the engines of the Mercedes D.II, the second sedmikusová series had engines Argus, the remaining machines were once again mercedes. The last machine was delivered 27. September 1915. Part of the machines was completed in Wilhelmshavenu, where they have received the simplified směrrovky and floats. These machines should, in addition, even weaker engines and received the designation FF.29a.
In 1917 FF.29 Nr.293 stuck in Denmark, where it was seized, přeměřen and copied straight. The only machine OV.12, marked by Magen 17, and was tested against the flying boats of the Danish production.
