During the construction of the Maginot Line, the idea arose to build a self-propelled gun of large caliber, which was to mobile support the endangered sections of this fortification line. The prototype of this self-propelled gun was built on the platform of a prototype "colonial" tank Renault D3. Brigadier General Eugéne Garnier took part in the work, so this project also bears his name. The project was started on July 25, 1932 and the prototype was completed in 1934. In the box superstructure was mounted 75 mm cannon model 1929 de casemate (modified for strength). After the presentation of the French military commission in Mailly in 1935, the idea of this machine was rejected. The project itself seemed costly and technically imperfect. Priority was given to new and more modern self-propelled projects SAu 40 and ARL V 39.

[in] Note. footnote:
The self-propelled gun in the photos was in the past referred to as ACL 135. It was stated that the project was to be undertaken by the company ACL (Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire), which created a simple box-shaped vehicle with a 135 mm cannon (probably the project 135 mm ACL sur Renault VN). Pierre Touzin mentioned this information in his old publications. Subsequently, Ivo Pejčoch took over in our region, who apparently drew from his publications. The vehicle in the photos was thus incorrectly identified.
