The project of Citroën was created in 1935 and the type was to be the new standard in the category of light reconnaissance tanks AMR (Automitrailleuse de Reconnaissance). The project was a response to the French army's bold plans to produce this category of tanks, which were significantly reduced just before the outbreak of World War II. The company had extensive experience in the production of Citroën-Kégresse half-track machines and this project also used structurally similar solutions and components. The machine was armored with a maximum thickness of 15 mm. It was powered by an engine used in the semi-track reconnaissance Citroën P 28. Metal-rubber belts were used. The crew consisted of a driver and a commander-shooter. The prototype (bore no. 84374) was presented in Vincennes by an army representative on April 24, 1935. He completed test drives on the road and in the field, after which, however, interest in this machine declined due to structural deficiencies. At that time, another type AMR-33/35 was introduced into production.
