Hauptmann Ernst Fach

Since I became the owner of two nice, quite legible photos (originals) of Ju 88 and its crew, I asked my colleagues from MF to find out who they are. They managed to find out that it is Hptm. Ernst Fach and his personal Ju 88 during the celebration of his tercentenary flight - i.e. a happy return from it.
Staffelkapitan 9.(Eis.)/KG 3 (Kampfgeschwader 3 "Blitz") - anti-pressure combat unit This unit used several Ju 88 C-6 in 1943 and until February 1944, later redesignated NJG 7 and moved to Europe.
Decorations awarded to Hptm. Ernst Fach
November 10, 1939 - Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse 1 June 1940 - Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse 11 May 1941 - Ehrenpokal fur besonderte Leistungen im Luftkrieg 22 May 1942 - Deutsche Kreis in Gold 15. 4. 1943 - Anhanger zur goldenen Frontflugspange 3. 9. 1943 - Ritterkreuz
On 26 March 1942, the (then still) Oblt. Fach is shot down on his Ju 88 A4 (5K+ FP, W.Nr.5706) at Torshok (Terzhok ? - Russia) behind enemy lines. With luck he manages to reach his unit.
He completes 150 combat flights on 22 May 1942 and becomes the commander of 6/KG3. Soon after, he is decorated Hauptmann and transferred to 9th /KG3. Fateful for Hptm. Ernst Fach was his heavy fighter Ju 88 C-6 with designation 5K+AT, W.Nr 360366, on which he and his crew (Ofw. Walter Schmidt and Oblt. Wolfgang Siegel) died in a crash (see photo)
