History:
Already in the first half of 1939, at a time when the production of light fighters was planned Caudron C .714, this aircraft is just a kind of verification of this aircraft concept. The kite, designed by engineer Riffard, was tuned, aerodynamically designed, but the Renault 12R 03 engine with 450 horsepower is really not enough for a fighter. It was therefore quite logical that the French Ministry of Aviation issued revised specifications, which required a light fighter with a much more powerful engine. The assignment was written "tailored" to the company Caudron-Renault, but still other prototype fighters were entered in the competition Bloch MB.700, Mureaux 190, Potéz 230 and Rousel 30. However, the Ministry of Aviation was already slowly re-evaluating the category of light fighters that were not equipped with passive protection, and their weapons were weak.

The Caudron-Renault company also responded to the ministry's stimulus, unfortunately, the French did not have a suitable engine at the time, the 16-cylinder Renault 626 was still preparing for tests, so the engine was purchased in Italy Isotta-Fraschini Delta RC40 of 730 hp. In the meantime, the original fuselage of the Caudron CR.714 also underwent significant changes - the skeleton was no longer wooden, it was assembled from tubes, which were covered with duralumin panels. The wing remained the same with reinforced wooden beams. With the new fuselage, the designation was changed to CR.760, the ministry ordered a total of three prototypes, but in May 1940, only one of them was completed. After completion, it was briefly tested and then flown to an airport farther from the front, where it was to be destroyed in case of surrender, this did not happen and the plane fell into the hands of the Germans, who apparently also tested it with an unknown result. The second prototype was completed as CR.770 with a Renault 626 engine and the third was not completed. It was to be powered by a Renault 468 engine, which was to power counter-rotating propellers, designation - CR.780.

I will also mention the test results of the CR.760 described here, the aircraft had excellent climbability, maneuvered well and had a high dive speed. Obscenities - engine overheating (no time to remove), missing self-locking tanks, cabin armor, weak armament (one machine gun was added to each wing), insufficient equipment.
