Loire-Nieuport LN-10

History :
These interesting float plane, the emergence of the requirement of the French naval aviation. In 1935 announced, just the French naval aviation ( Aéronavale ), the competition on the bombardovácí aircraft, able to carry both the classic bombs, and torpedoes. The company Loire-Nieuport this competition applied to your project LN-10. The prototype, made by Loire-Nieuport in Saint-Nazaire, first flew 21. July 1939. After the first test years, was on the airplane made several design changes. During the year 1939, the prototype was flown by test institute CEPA ( Commission dExperience Pratique dAéronautique ) in Saint Raphael. There have been several test flights, after which the test institute of CEPA drew the attention of the manufacturer, the poor stability of the aeroplane in flight. The prototype was then přelétnul back to Saint-Nazaire, and on the aeroplane once again implement design changes ( zoom indicator). Already in the course of rehearsals, lost marine air force for this type of aircraft of interest, and in fact the whole project LN-10 condemned to extinction. However, the company further continued in the development and testing of the prototype, the one he had at the end of may 1940 through the last flight test. To her, however, never happened, and only made a prototype it was rather destroyed, so it did not fall into German hands.
Aircraft Loire-Nieuport LN-10 was a monoplane float bomber of all-metal construction. Wings in the front view of the shape of the letter W and to each of them, was located a large fuel tank, each about 2 volume 130 litres. The aircraft had two large all-metal floats are to be placed under the wings, directly above the floats were on the struts, diagonally over the wings to be spaced engine nacelles. In each of them was čtrnáctiválcový air-cooled the engine, type Gnome-Rhone 14R-01 performance 1 600 horsepower. The engines drove three blades, variable pitch propeller. The speed of the aircraft was 400 km/h and the speed of travel 286 km/h. The crew of the aircraft consisted of 7 people, two pilots, two gunners, a navigator, on-board mechanic, and last but not least, the radio operator. The aircraft was armed with a movable gun Hispano-Suiza HS-404 the caliber of 20 mm, which was placed in the dorsal gun turret type SAMM AB15. Then was armed with four movable guns Darne caliber 7,5 mm, two machine guns were placed in the glass the bow and the other two in the rifle unit under the fuselage. The plane took a cargo of 1 600 kg of bombs or torpedoes to distance of 3 200 km. Bomb load could be different, either five depth charges weighing 235 kg, three bombs weighing 410 kg, or two torpedoes weighing 750 kg.
