EKW C-35

The aircraft began to emerge in 1934 as a replacement for the Swiss Air Force used Fokkery C.VE. The Swiss of the C.V type were also based on, but modified the construction and mainly installed a more powerful engine Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs. The new machine was designated the C-35 and first took off in 1936. It was a multi-purpose aircraft, which was to play the role of a heavy fighter, reconnaissance and combat aircraft. The tests of the aircraft turned out well and in 1936 40 serial pieces were ordered, the first were delivered to the units in May of the following year. In the years 1941 - 1942, another eight pieces were produced to replace the lost aircraft. The serial machines were powered by a licensed Hispano-Suiza 77 engine.

The machines were equipped with a total of six units of the Swiss Air Force, which used them intensively during reconnaissance and patrol flights, especially after the outbreak of World War II, when the aircraft of the warring parties violated Swiss airspace. However, the Swiss fiercely defended him, which provoked the Germans to try to destroy the Swiss Air Force in the air. The match finally took place on June 8, 1940, when a large Luftwaffe formation invaded Switzerland. The lone C-35 on a reconnaissance flight was the first machine encountered by the Germans. For experienced pilots Bf 110 from ZG 1, this machine was no opponent and after a while its wreckage burned at Alle, the pilot and observer perished. Then, however, Swiss fighters appeared and deprived the Luftwaffe of seven machines, they lost a total of four aircraft.

EKW C-35 aircraft served in the first line until 1943, when they began to be replaced by new machines C-3603, but in auxiliary services type lasted until 1954.
