Vehicle description
The Tatra 813 truck was modified for laying and lifting two strips of plate pavement to allow heavier vehicles to pass over poorly bearing terrain. The automotive paver uses a Tatra type 813 tractor chassis with a modified frame with a rear face, winch and platform without sidewalls on which the paver is mounted with a right and left tray of pavement slabs and two booms carrying one unwinding drum each. The pavement to be laid consists of two strips of forty slabs each. The chassis of the pavement car is equipped with a twin reel winch identical to pontoon car. The platform has two holes in the front for routing ropes towards the tray pulleys and further back towards the two pairs of holes in the superstructure frame footings. The laying device included two unwinding and one braking drum, which were located on the tipping sledge and ensured smooth laying. A device at the front of the frame allowed the metal parts of the carpet to be lifted back and folded into the cassette trays.
Several dozen boards were stacked on the platform, joined into two continuous belts. The design of the slabs ensured lateral and longitudinal stability, thanks to the suitably shaped frame and the filler used. The slabs had holes on the sides to facilitate anchoring of the roadway on slopes and curves.

Laying options

- cornering capability: outer radius greater than about 50 m for tracked vehicles

Weighing,
automotive paving machines have been used by other armies. Here they received various designations, but the nicest name I found was the Nationale Volksarmee (NVA), which was Czech-German and read: Teppichleger Vozovky (sometimes also vosovky), which can be translated as "carpet laying roadway".
Resin model manufacturers, on the other hand, again used the term: Faltstraßenverleger (Vozovky). Not being a German speaker, I used an electronic dictionary to translate that super-word, and this is the wording that came out: paver of unfolded road pavement.
To my amazement, I have not yet come across the official name of the CSLA, so I accept without reservation the term used by Colonel Doubek in Atom magazine.
