The first tank mass-produced at the Kharkov Locomotive Works. The machine was designed based on the experience with the prototype T-12. After trials, the tank was accepted into the RA armament, but due to the number of only 25 units produced, it was only used for training.

T24 in combat

It is usually stated that the military units did not take delivery of the T-24 tanks. It is known that in 1938 a decision was taken to convert tanks retired from RA armament as static fortification points. Two tanks originally from the Moscow Military District were to be transferred to the museum at the NIIBT Polygon in Kubinka. But in 1941 one of them is kept in the Research Department of the VAMM (Научно-исследовательском отделе ВАММ, Moscow), the fate of the other T-24 is unknown. The remaining 22 tanks produced were stationed at the Western and Kiev Military District. Again, it is stated that although some of them had working guns (76mm L-10), they were not used in combat.

I managed to find an interesting document. According to it, at least two machines were used by the 80th Tank Brigade. Its 173rd Panzer Regiment shows two machines with crews according to a report dated 27.11.1942. One of them is a pp with turret number "30-35". Although the 80th Tank Brigade's scouting report as of 20.11.1942 shows only KV- 8, T-34-18, T-70-3 and T-60-17 tanks, some others indicate that it had a "rozvjedčik tank". This is despite the fact that machines such as T-34, T-60, etc. are named below. For example, on 23 November 1942, 8 heavy KVs were handed over to 25th Tank Brigade. The 80th Tank Brigade itself was transferred to the 20th Army (Western Front) on 08.09.1942. The fighting in November 1942 took place, for example, in the area of Gredjakino - Berezujsky Hill. On 25 December 1942, the 80th Tank Brigade was withdrawn to the reserve of the High Command and moved to Kostrevsky Tank Barracks.

Both commanders of these tanks are also listed in the document.
