Complete set of airport light and technical equipment - KSPL

This mobile airfield lighting kit for our air force was developed by Elektrosignal. The KSPL mobile kit was even intended to be a unified lighting equipment for the airfields of the Warsaw Pact troops.


The set provides two-sided light marking of the airfield and is supplemented with PAPI descent signals, flash line and light beacon and complies with ICAO standards.


It is mounted on 3 T 815 vehicles:
2× T-815 VVN 26 265 8×8.1R
1× T-815 VPR8 20 235 6×6.1R (with VOSK superstructure)
2× trailing power units 60 kW type ČSAD-60-3-400

The trucks are adapted for storing and transporting 8 special containers in which the light signals are stored:
- approach rows, threshold bar ("semaphore") and end bar. (Total 61 + 8 pieces type 94 852 A clear, C green filter, D red filter);
- omnidirectional signals (114 pcs type 94 851 A, B, C 100W lane with yellow and white filter or clear;
D 45W with blue filter for taxiways and connecting lanes, with red filter for "standees");
- Descending signals (8 + 1 PAPI type),
- flashing signals (19 + 2 ZN-3 type 94 878);
- rotary code beacon;
- coils with cables, spare parts.


1 box car T 815-VOSK (6×6) serves as the command and control centre of the complex. It is equipped with a MOFIL KZ-7 air-conditioning unit (power 7 kW), maintaining automatically the temperature and air circulation, 3× "loudspeaker" for the operator's workplace.


On both inner sides are built-in power supplies. ZKP-T 6,6A (8 pcs) for serial supply of loops with light intensity control (1, 3, 10, 30 and 100%), there is also a source of flash lights ZZS-3 (type 94 878), a geodetic sighting instrument, a signal portable lamp, 1 signal control panel and 1 signal control panel for the flight controller's station, a set of tools and measuring instruments.

Technical and tactical data

The crew consists of a commander + 12 soldiers (including drivers) and a time of about 100 min is sufficient to deploy the kit. A crew of 3 is needed to operate the vehicle.

The great advantage of the set is the possibility of remote control and monitoring of the whole equipment, especially control of the state of power supply circuits, values of power supply current and insulation resistance of power supply loops and automatic regulation of luminosity according to visibility meters.


The completion of all kinds of demanding tests (PZ, KZ, VZ) only at the end of the 1980s practically did not allow the introduction of the KSPL into the armament. The whole area of research and development for the military aviation was managed by VTÚL and PVO - Col. Ing. Zdeněk Jirásek.


The main reason for the non-introduction to the services were the changes after 1989, accompanied by the reduction of the air force and basically the retreat from the possibility of tactical manoeuvre of air units when conducting operations from the reserve airfields, for which the KSPL kit was designed.

Light pattern

Jenom pro doplnění:
Pracovní název projektu byl HRONOV (Jiráskův).
Vojskové zkoušky byly prováděny na letišti Pardubice a Dlouhá Lhota, kde zejména výstavba předpolí probíhala za extrémních podmínek (čerstvá namoklá oranice).
Jedno z hlavních kriterií (výstavba do 100 min.) bylo splněno. Výstavba osvětlení "pojížděček" nebyla do této doby zahrnována.
Nevím jak dál pokračoval vývoj, ale souprava byla určena pouze pro jednosměrné vytýčení předpolí (v prvním příspěvku uvedeno oboustranné). Odpovídají tomu také i uváděné počty návěstidel, např. pro systém PAPI (čtyři na levé a pravé straně dráhy pouze z jednoho směru) a zábleskové řady (300 - 1000 m po 100 m před prahem a dvě dvojice na levé a pravé straně prahu VPD).
Napájení a řízení zábleskových návěstidel bylo oproti stacionární verzi řešeno po "sériovém" kabelu. Zdroj spouštěcích pulzů byl umístěn u prvního (nejvzdálenějšího) návěstidla. Toto řešení umožnilo použít tenčí a lehčí (méně žilové) kabely pro snadnější manipulaci. Mělo však nevýhodu v tom, že pokud došlo k závadě na návěstidle, tak se "běžící" bod zastavil na předchozím návěstidle.
