The radio station was established in the late 1940s. It was put into the USSR arsenal in 1950. After the introduction of the R-113 to tank units, according to www.qrz.ru after 1958, it was used only in command tanks to communicate with superior staffs. In the CSLA it replaced the RM-31T, against which it was more reliable. The indirect-annealing tubes used were more reliable and stable than the Czechoslovak battery tubes used in the RM-31, which often "rang" with every jolt.
