JCB high-speed engineering excavator
Interim High-Mobility Engineer Excavator (IHMEE)
This interesting machine was exhibited at the Terramet stand during the IDET 2007 trade fair and demonstrated at the local polygon. It is allegedly an armored multi-purpose earthmoving machine from the British company JCB. I assume that the exhibited piece is a prototype because it was not equipped with factory labels and technical descriptions.
The US Army tested the JCB excavator as part of the HMEE armaments project. The vehicle has successfully passed the tests and in the number of about 1000 pieces will be included in the armament, under an as yet unspecified military designation. In the US, American Defense Systems, Inc. will be involved in the production. Additional cab and chassis armor is expected.
