Ivan Kolařík was born on March 22, 1920 in Valašské Meziříčí (Vsetín district).After graduating from the real grammar school (1931-1939) in his hometown, he began to study medicine in Brno.Then he crossed the border to Slovakia, then he got to Belgrade via Hungary, where he registered at the Czechoslovak consulate.Via Greece, Turkey and Beirut he got to France.There he was assigned to the Czechoslovak foreign army on 6 March 1940 as a private to the 8th company of the 1st ppl. After the end of the French campaign, he arrived in England on 13 July 1940 by the ship Rod el Farag, where he was assigned to the 2nd Company of the 1st Infantry Battalion.On 15 January 1941 he was sent to the school for reserve officers, which he completed on 30 April 1941 with a very good grade.He was promoted to Lance Corporal and Corporal Aspirant.In the early summer of 1941 he was assigned to Special Task Force and after completing courses(sabotage on STS 26, 4 parachute jumps in parachute STS 51) he was assigned to Out Distance Group and was dropped off on the night of 27-28.While hiding his parachute, he lost his documents with a photo of his girlfriend, which fell into the hands of the Gestapo.He found out about these facts and in a hopeless situation, in order not to be arrested, he poisoned himself on 1.4.1942 around 12.00 on the outskirts of Vizovice.The body was buried in the forest cemetery in Zlín.


After his death, his family (father, mother, brother and wife) and his fiancée's family (fiancée, father, mother) were arrested and imprisoned in the Kounic dormitories in Brno.All of them were executed during the martial law on 30 May 1942.



He was a disciplined and hardworking soldier,popular among his comrades.


On 7.3.1944 he was awarded the Czechoslovak Military Medal with the F-VB label.
