from the 1890s differs in the direction of the blade cut and the smaller diameter of the ring hole.
It differs from the for men pattern in having an oval loop on the pommel and a hook on the guard for attaching the non-commissioned officer's portepé. There are some weapons that do not have the hook, but the loop does. This is a modification of the weapon of soldiers promoted to non-commissioned officer rank directly in combat, where it was not possible to procure the prescribed non-commissioned officer's bayonet.
Straight blade of wedge cross-section with a double-edged upward-pointing cut, passing into a central point at the end.
Handle bristle, plain, usually made of walnut wood, fastened with two rivets. Guard with ring and hook at lower end. The guard usually bears the weapon number and the muzzle the unit designation. On the pommel an oval loop for fastening the non-commissioned officer's portepé.
Iron seam finished with a ball. Hook for attaching a leather belt sling.

Manufacturer is most often OEWG Oesterreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft , Steyr
