the made-up history 1938-1945
A more detailed view into one chapter of the History of the Czech lands in the pictures

At the age of fourteen separate volumes were published gradually in the past decade in the publishing house Albatros illustrated History of the Czech lands. Intended mainly for children ending an elementary school. The contents of all of those fourteen volumes have now lived to see the complete edition under the title the History of the Czech lands in the pictures, with the subtitle From prehistoric times to the present. At first glance, there is reason for jubilation: finally, it is the world's tlustospis, from which the children can in a nutshell draw everything "about us" - from the data about the ancestors known as Homo erectus and staying on the shore of the lake there, where today is located the village of Přezletice, to the disintegration of Czechoslovakia in 1992. All lavishly and colorfully illustrated. The aggregate weight of this tlustospisu exceeds three pounds.

But: a challenge for each of the union and the collective of the project is to maintain the qualitative equilibrium of the individual parts. The following lines focus on one part of the Czechoslovakia in the years 1938 to 1945. The authors of this part, which in the book of 976 sides occupies the site 832-896, are textually Pavel Augusta and Francis have fit, the interpretation illustrated by Jiří Jan. From this partial perspective therefore, it is necessary the following will greatly critical lines of the design - it is not about "clearing" with the entire book. However, a more detailed look at one chapter in the History of the Czech lands in the pictures logically cannot nevrhat doubts even on the next chapter.

I dare say that the part dedicated to the years of 1938-1945 is absolutely disastrous. A professional historian cannot fail to be these new legends of the Czech shocked. It is even willing to admit that it is a very specific kind of provocation with the aim to break away fellow specializing in the modern history of their latent hibernation. In the worst case - which is far more likely - it is about the author fabulaci, spíchnutou a very hot needle. The Text, from which all of the below indicated the nonsense could be your captcha is incorrect, almost certainly does not exist; neporodily him to a dark age, when the Czech history were allowed to construct only prokádrovaní marxists-an agreement on.

First the "aperitif" of the parts of the previous, therefore, to Czechoslovakia in the years 1918-1938 (the authors of the text are the same). Map showing the "Czechoslovakia after the munich diktat" is Germany assigned to the made-up flag of the third reich. Equally meaningless is the figure of regenta Behalf (the white horse), located in Slovakia; in addition, it is on this map přičleněna area Petržalky and its surroundings to Hungary, although being assigned to the Eastern dm (former Austria).

Mistake, error, nonsense
And now let us proceed to the impugned book. Opens it confusing map of Europe years 1940-1941, where they are marked not only the border at that time non-existent of the Czechoslovak republic, but also in the protectorate, although he was an integral part of the third reich and always for him was set identical color as for Germany. But so be it. Then there is the speech of the hard facts ...

For example: Slovak bundestag nevyhlásil 14. march 1939, the Slovak republic (the first 21. July 1939), but only the Slovak autonomy. President Emil Hácha 15. march 1939, signed in Berlin no contract, let alone the treaty of the protectorate (the Decree on the formation of the protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia is 16. march 1939 was involved in Prague no Bohemia). There was never a president of the protectorate - Emil Hácha was recognized as state president. The role of the only Czech political parties - National homogeneity - in any case, it was not education of the Czech nation to the imperial idea. The government of prime minister Alois Elias was the second, but the first of the protectorate government (druhorepubliková the government of Rudolf Beran only přesluhovala to April 1939). The Remains Of Charles H. Mácha not in may 1939 on the Vyšehrad transferred from the Litoměřice, but from the Pantheon of the National museum in Prague, where they were stored already in October 1938, after Litoměřice fell to the third reich.

And we can continue: the leaders of the Czech intellectual elite were expelled from Slovakia until after march 1939, but already after October 1938. Student leaders were 17. November 1939 executed on kobyliské the shooting range, but in the riding school ruzyňských barracks; kobyliská shooting range is to the executions began to take up from the middle of the year 1942 ...

The lists of collaborators could never be published, because they never existed. Kuratorium for the education of the youth in Bohemia and Moravia was established in the year 1941, but a year later. The so-called Order of st. wenceslas eagle is in fact called the Honorary shield of the protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia with an eagle prince Wenceslas. Sokols wore uniforms, but the costumes. American home resistance was not with the provisional government in conjunction vysílačkami from the beginning, but up from August 1939. Aktivistický journalist Karel Lažnovský did not die on the basis of the poisoning at the reception at the prime minister of the protectorate government of Elijah 18. September 1941, but until three weeks later. The staff captain Václav Morávek has not been shot 11., but the 21. march 1942. In July 1940 did not recognise the United Kingdom the czechoslovak government - recognised only to the interim government, which is the difference.

Acting reich protector Reinhard Heydrich was not in the assassination mortally hurt by the splinters of the bomb, since it was formed plastic trhavinou without the casing. The protectorate Jews wore a yellow six-pointed star from the June 1939, but from September 1941; the first jewish transport from the protectorate nemířil in November 1941 to Theresienstadt, but in October 1941 to Lodz. In 1940 nebojovaly in the battle of Britain three, but two of the czechoslovak fighter squadron RAF. At the time of the Prague uprising was not built on the three thousand barricades, but a thousand and six hundred barricades.

Coach Andrej Hlinka
For the slated text are first and foremost responsible to its authors. The blame is also a publishing house, unable or unwilling to raise the quality of reviewers. Its share of the carries, and the historical township - the author of this review course, including; members of the problematic passages in the first publication of this part either not noticed, or to "let be" and on the way to the occurrence of inaccuracies did not alert.

It can be assumed that the pupils and students, which is a publication of the Albatros, primarily, interested in Czech history. If, however, these candidates will take the History of the Czech lands in the pictures at face value, nedivme is, until one day it will be with a straight face claim that Emil Hácha was the time of Charles, Andrej Hlinka coached the Czech ice hockey team from Nagano, and that the soldiers of the Red army on the roof of the conquered state assembly připíjeli Molotovovým a cocktail.
