Főhadnagy László Pongrácz
1907 - 30 April 1986
László Pongrácz was born in 1907.
In 1938, Főhadnagy (Lieutenant) Pongrácz served in the 1/2. vadászázad (fighter squadron) operating on Fiat CR.32 aircraft. On 25 October 1938, he shot down a Czechoslovak Š-328 of the 10th Squadron over Hodžovo.
The pilot of the Letov, Sergeant Ján Kello was wounded and the observer, Aspirant Jaromír Sotola was killed. This aerial victory was not officially recognized, and he was disciplined by his commander for his actions, as he came close to the negotiations in Vienna, thus jeopardizing Hungary's negotiating position in its bid to acquire the majority Hungarian-populated Czechoslovakia.
During World War II, he served as a test pilot. After the war, he emigrated to South America and died in Buenos Aires on April 30, 1986.
