origins and history:
In 1933, requested the japanese naval air force for aircraft carriers two-seater fighter aircraft, in formulating this request was mainly influenced by the british naval air force. The order for development commissioned two factories - Nakajimě and Mitsubishi.
At Mitsubishi started work on this project Joji Hattori, the resulting piece was a biplane powered by devítiválcovým engine Nakajima Jupiter II. The first prototype was completed in January 1934 and the second in early summer of the same year.
