Brief history
In the 1980s, the People's Republic of Poland modernized Soviet artillery equipment used since World War II. Among the modernized types was the 122-мм корпусная пушка обр. 1931/37; гг. in Poland designated as: 122 mm armata wz. 1931/37. The reconstruction changed or modified the braking system and the chassis, including its lighting. To increase the ground clearance, tyres identical to the KrAZ-255B tractor-truck were used. The weapon received a new designation 122 mm armata wz. 1931/37/85 when it was assigned to the Polish Army. About 63 pieces were modernized. On Poland's accession to NATO in 1999, this gun was not included in the number of weapons in active service.
