Román z pera italského novináře německého původu, který během WWII působil jako válečný zpravodaj na východní frontě. V knize zachycuje období zhruba od rok 1941 do r.1943. Popisuje v ní různé příhody z finské fronty, postupu Ukrajinou, z Rumunska, ale také třeba z Polska a Chorvatska. V knize vylíčeny také setkání např. s Ante Paveličem, guvernérem Polska Frankem, španělským vyslancem ve Finsku hrabětem de Foxa a dalšími.


Kniha je psána podle mého mínění příliš "uměleckou" formou a doporučoval bych raději se jí vyhnout.
