Pokud se jedná o dělo používané R-U 8cm Feldkanone M.5/8 jedná se jen o rozvinutí původní konstrukce polního kanónu Feldkanone M.5. U děla došlo jen k úpravě a zesílení lafety. Hlavní úprava byla směřována na tzv. úpravu montáže a demontáže kanónu, aby byl lépe přemistitelný v těžkém terénu. Dělo šlo rozložit na více částí než Feldkanone M.5.


Odměr 360° byl možný pouze v případě, že se otáčelo s celou lafetou kolem své osy, odměr děla na nové lafetě +-5°.
