Heavy mortar vz.16 calibre 30,5 cm

Skoda system weapon with horizontal wedge breech, design by Ing. Oswald Dirmoser and Ing. Richard Dirmoser, a modification of the original type, tested under the designation 30.5 cm M.11 Mörser between 1910 and 1911 and introduced in 1912 into the armament of the Austro-Hungarian Army. The mortar was produced between 1916 and 1918 by the Škoda Works, a joint-stock company in Pilsen, and more recently in 1920 and 1921 by the Akciová společnost, formerly the Škoda Works in Pilsen, most of the war production went into the armaments of the armies of the Kingdom of Italy, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and the Kingdom of Romania.
The weapon consisted of a steel barrel with a constant breech, a horizontal wedge breech, a liquid brake and strut breech, a cradle and sight and a full bearing. For transport it was divided into three units, initially pulled by a Daimler vz. 17 tractor and from 1932 by a Tatra T-25 truck; preparation of the firing position took, depending on the subsoil, three to forty hours, and assembly of the gun three to twelve hours.
For firing, vz. 15/28 grenades and vz. 35 grenades were used, the ammunition was split.
Until the autumn of 1938, the mortars were assigned to Artillery Regiment 303 and Artillery Regiment 305.
