Martel, the Morris-Martel One Man Tankette

Idea to ever leave the stage of testing, and especially in time of war, the question is, "what will follow?". some of the ideas are good, some too fanciful. Just as this.
The basis of the theory was submitted to the big French fan of tanks general Estiennem, which aided in the construction of the first French tanks and prosazovatele light tanks, which would in rojnicích drove the enemy positions. The whole proposal was based on a massive deployment of a large number of small armored vehicles with one member of the crew, thanks to high speed, they were soldiers protecting even the slim armor and the whole attack would be unstoppable. Colonel (later major general) J.F.C. Fuller revived after the war WW1 the whole idea and so began the discussion. Major (later lieutenant-general) Sir Gifford Le. Q. Martel has adopted the same view, and in 1925 he built in his garage tančík. The engine came from a car Maxwell and chassis from Ford. Belts came from Roadless Traction Company. The hull of the vehicle was made of wood. After presentation of the War Office was the firm of Morris Commercial Motors asked about the status of the 4 test vehicles. The first of them was delivered in 1926. In 1927, has been ordered by the other eight and were used as a reconnaissance aircraft for the newly rounded the experimental unit. Shortly after that was the whole idea of swept away under the table, because he showed that one man cannot at the same time to control the machine and shoot it from the weapons gun on the vehicle. On one vehicle was tested control with the help of simple rounds at the end of the vehicle.
