SOV - BT-5 s RS132 (tank s raketometem)

BT-5 with RS 132mm

Following the completion of the RBT-5 with 250kg tank torpedo project, work began in early 1935 on a lighter version of the rocket for placement on tanks.

The rocket developed at the RNII (Rocket Science Research Institute), later adopted as the RS 132, was selected as a suitable one. The 2,000 mm long launcher, which was a design of RNII (ing.V.I.Alexandrov), was placed on the left side of the tank turret BT-5 (Mariupolsk turret). It was of the cage type, open on the outside, with fixed adjustable aiming of 0 and 20 degrees - in that case the range of the missile was up to 4 km (depending on the weather). The original armament was retained. In subsequent tests, a launcher was used on both sides of the turret with a variable aiming angle of -5 to +25 degrees. The tests took place in 1935-1936. No serial production took place.

The BT-5 (BT-7) equipped with 155 mm rockets, the BT-5 without a cannon with a semi-automatic rocket launcher of 132 mm calibre (18 rockets, 4 shots per minute) and the BT-5 with a 165 mm mortar (50 mines) were also in the project phase. All remained in the project phase.
