Mitsubishi 1MF10 7-Shi

History:
Specifications naval air force marked the 7-Shi can be regarded as the first truly consistently prepared. For example, the technical requirements of on-board fighter aircraft, which the Kaigun Koku Hombu construct reflect a certain crisis that was the japanese naval air force. Some of the higher officers of the japanese naval air force began to realize the small the efficiency of the own on-board fighter aircraft. Japanese fighters of that time (the beginning of the thirties of the last century) were highly skillful and highly maneuverable biplanes, however, with a small range (not so provide fighter escorts of its own tactical fighters) and relatively weak armament. Their effective use against any possible attack enemy bombers on its own aircraft carriers was so doubtful. The quality of the bomber force, in particular, land-based bombers increased from year to year. On the contrary, the system of fighter defence based on the telescopes of guards and the speed of the crews onboard the jet fighters during take-off..., so the navy requested the fighter aircraft, these shortcomings had not. There was even one extreme direction - the-board, the air force completely drained, and instead increase the number borne bombers, i.e. to ensure the defense of their own boat, the timely elimination of the enemy fleet. Finally, he pushed the view that the board, the air force must be armed aircraft, which will be not only well rise, but will also be fast enough and its construction will be able to withstand a certain damage in the fight and will provide a certain strength reserve. What was, however, essential - should be a monoplane!

Management of the factory Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki Kaisha in Nagoya, has decided to respond to these specifications and in charge of the construction works of the young engineer Jiro Hirokoshiho, who recently returned from internships around Europe and the US. Assists were charged with Eitaro Sano, Takanosuke Nakamura and Tomio Kubo. The design team had great ambition, designed a truly modern fighter aircraft with decent performance and while it was no longer a purely japanese design. The result was all-metal low wing aircraft with an elliptical wing pointed to the shape of the letter W, the Fuselage was designed as a poloskořepina, the aircraft was visibly inspired zavalitým the Boeing P-26. The project was chiefly adopted, and the factory proceeded to the construction of the prototype, the one bore the designation of the 1MF10.
The Factory Nakajima Hikoki To. To. was vytížena the fulfilment of other contracts and that competition has underestimated, its the project accounted for only slightly modified army pathfinder Type 91.
The two prototypes of the Mitsubishi 1MF10 were also a disappointment, not good flight characteristics, have suffered from instability, on the basis of non-compliance with a ratio between the size of the fuselage and wings, in addition, both prototypes havarovaly.

Kaigun Koku Hombu ultimately a competition of the fighter 7-Shi repealed, the performances of the two competitors remained far behind expectations and the expectations of the maritime air force. It was obvious that the transition to the new concept jednoplošných fighters will require much more time. The fact that there was no suitable replacement for the dvoplošnou fighter A2N the Type of 90, had to Kaigun Koku Hombu in 1933 to enter the factory Nakajima task, which it wanted for its troops to quickly gain a more powerful fighter than he was the pilots favorite Type of 90. So there is 221 cabin fighters A4N1.

Designer Jiro Hirokoshi, however, from the failure of this design of instructing, and all took advantage of later, when the technical department of the navy the specifications of the 9-Shi demanded onboard a fighter, it then gave rise to the great in-flight fighters A5M Claude.
