Letov L-52/L-152 (projekt)

L-52

Project of the company LETOV from 1947 directed by a team led by ing.Prachař and ing.Záhorou . The machine was based on design knowledge in the production of S-92 and thus its German model Me-262. The kite of the aircraft was to come directly from the kite Me-262. The shape of the hull was almost circular. The engine was placed in the fuselage behind the pilot. The fuselage was detachable behind the trailing edge of the wing, so that engine maintenance could be performed.

One-seat version of the fighter. The wing of this version was based on the Me-262 wing, but it should have a straight trailing edge and a continuous flap. The machine was to be powered by an English jet engine Rolls-Royce Nene (22.3kN).

Training version of the fighter. The wing of this version could be taken directly from the Me-262 (engine nacelles removed) and the machine was to be powered by a weaker engine Rolls-Royce Derwent V ( 16.3kN).

The tail surfaces were to be taken from Me-262 after modifications. It was later decided that the two-seater version would be powered by the engine "Nene". From the Me-262 also came the chassis (the front underwent a modification of the suspension), which was to receive wheels with a smaller diameter in the later period of design work. The cabin of the fighter version was to be pressurized, armored and the machine should have a launch rescue seat (inspiration from the seat used in He-219).
The armament should consist of two cannons MK108 caliber 30mm or MG151 caliber 20mm. The armament was to be supplemented by unguided missiles caliber 55mm and 210mm. The machine could also carry two 250kg bombs. It was also planned to develop a two-seater night fighter with radar and additional fuel tanks.

On October 25, 1947, an application was submitted for testing machine models in wind tunnels CAGI in Moscow. In 2/1948, the MNO was presented with a budget for the production of two prototypes, which, however, did not include the import of English engines. The amount reached CZK 30 million. Unfortunately, after the communists came to power, this project was canceled and priority was given to the fighters of the Soviet Union MiG-15, whose licensed production started in Czechoslovakia.

There were also plans for a modernized project L-152, but any information about it was probably not preserved.

Drawing and photo from the wing tests of the Me-262 wing. I don't know if my memory is good, but I feel like I once saw a photo of an aerodynamic model in an old L + K. God & # 382; ia & # 318; I don't have a photo.
