INT - TRIGAT-MR

TRIGAT - MR
This is a new PTRK developed in 1998 by the Euromissile Dynamics Group (EMDG), a company formed by Aerospatiale (France), British Aerospace (UK) and LFK (Germany).
TRIGAT-MR (Medium Range) is intended as a replacement for the MILAN system in the British, French, German and Belgian armies.
It enables the destruction of all types of tanks and other armoured vehicles up to a range of 2000 m. As the manoeuvring of the missile is solved by changing the thrust vector of the rocket motor with two exit nozzles (similar to the PTRK ERYX), the missile has a low velocity (20 m/s) at launch. Therefore, it can be launched from small enclosed spaces. The flight engine is located in the central part of the missile body, the front part contains a small 55 mm cumulative warhead and electronics. In the rear part of the missile there is a main cumulative charge of 150 mm calibre and a launching motor. The principle of guidance is semi-automatic after intentional. Instructions for trajectory correction are imparted to the flying missile by a coded infrared laser beam.
In addition to the standard optical sight for day, a thermal imaging unit is available to allow guidance at night, in fog, smoke or dust. The guided missile contains a tandem cumulative charge initiated by a non-contact infrared igniter. The penetration of the homogeneous armour is 1100 mm. States such as Turkey, Norway, Finland have expressed interest in this PTRK.
