Original name : 15 mm MG 151/15
Caliber : 15 mm
Magazine : 50 rounds in metal belt (disintegrating belt)
Length : 1916 mm
Barrel length : 1254 mm
Weight : 42 kg
Effect velocity : 790 m/s
Firing rate : 700 rounds/min
Manufacturer : Mauser-Werke AG Berlin
This is the ground version of the MG 151/15 air machine gun, it was used in 1944/45 for air defence, either as a single mount (Fla SL 151) or in a triple mount (Fla SL 151D). The abbreviation stands for Fliegerabwehr Sockellafette für MG 151, and the letter D for triple mounting means drilling (i.e. triple). The triple-mounted version has, of course, triple the cadence and higher weight. The weapons on the Fla SL 151 and Fla SL 151D were used primarily as a defence against depth charges, both on fixed positions and on vehicles.
There was also a version for ground use primarily to support infantry units on a balloon wheeled lafette but it was apparently not introduced into production
