ASRAD-R - modular air defence system.
Manufacturer.
ASRAD-R is characterized by the following features:
- Integrated 3D search and tracking radar
- automatic operation of the system during target search and tracking
- remote control of the system
- high jamming resistance missile, using laser beam guidance
ASRAD-R is a high-precision missile system capable of operating against low-flying air targets (mainly helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles) and also against armoured ground targets. Suitable for the defence of mobile units and important objects.
The ASRAD-R uses the BOLID missile (also used in the RBS-70) - a high jamming resistance missile, it uses laser beam guidance for its guidance. The range of the missile is up to 8000 m, it has very good effects even against small-sized targets.
The ASRAD-R system is a weapon platform that can be used on various types of vehicles (tracked, wheeled), etc. The remote control allows to operate the complete set from a distance of up to 100 m.
ASRAD-R is a modular system. Depending on the requirements, it can be placed in a single unit - autonomous firing unit with 3D radar (2D radar, or IC search system) with IFF, or with radar on a separate vehicle, controlling multiple firing units.
The system features a small footprint when transported, which allows for reduced vehicle silhouette outside of the towing activity and improves the transportability of the system by various means.
System features:
- 24-hour continuous combat readiness
- Automatic target acquisition and tracking, with operator control
- 4 ready-to-fire missiles (BOLID, or other missiles usable with the RBS-70)
- Capable of engaging air and ground targets at ranges up to 8000 m.
- GPS navigation
- data and voice communication
- 3D radar target detection capability (Ericsson Microwave System's HARD 3D) at a minimum range of 20 km
- total weight of the system (weapon system, 3D radar) is up to 1000 kg.
The ASRAD-R system is mounted on the M113 chassis
In cooperation between Saab Bofors Dynamics and Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH, a German PLRK LeFlaSys on the chassis of the Wiesel 2 vehicle has been developed based on the ASRAD-R
The ASRAD-R system, called CMAD (Container Mounted Air Defence), is also used by the Finnish Defence Forces. The ASRAD-R weapon container is mounted on a Mercedes Unimog 5000 vehicle.
