Bad experience and the discovery of the shortcomings of German tanks after the attack on the USSR led to the development of new German medium and heavy tanks. Even the Protectorate company Skoda started to develop new types of medium tanks. By the end of 1941, the T-24 project was on the drawing boards. At the same time, work was also underway on a heavier machine, the T-25. Already on 2/1942 the project was presented to the WaPrüf 6 (the 6th department of the Ordnance Test Bureau-dealing with automotive and tank technology). The department ordered to build a wooden model by the end of 3/1942. The T-24 project was one of the top designs of Škoda Plzeň and its concept could compete with any medium tank of that time. The project combined a quality chassis, quality armour, powerful engine and armament. The hull and turret shapes were modern, with armour plates welded at acute angles. The shape was similar to the Soviet T-34, which the T-24 was probably inspired by. It was a modern tank project, but interest in it shifted to its heavier brother T-25. The T-24 project was cancelled and the wooden model devalued.
