Alezredes Aladár Heppes


(*20.11.1904, Arad - +15.8.1988, Norwalk)



In August 1928 he is appointed to the rank of Lieutenant as Chief Inspector of Air. After flight training in 1929, he serves in the secret military air force.


In June 1941, he becomes commander of the fighter units stationed in Nyíregyháza. In 1942 he becomes commander of Fighter Group 5/I. and from December of that year he is commander of fighter units fighting on the Eastern Front. At the time of the catastrophe of the 2nd Hungarian Army, he organizes the defense of Ilovskoye airfield. Until 30.11.1943 he is the commander of the fighter group 5/I. "Puma" on the eastern front. After that he becomes the commander of the training group in Hungary. From 1.5.1944 he is the commander of the 101st Fighter Squadron "Puma" established to defend Hungary, at the same time he received a ban on combat operations.


1.2.1945 promoted to lieutenant colonel. He directs air operations in the area of Veszprém, Kenyeri, Hörsing and Raffelding. After a stay in American captivity, he emigrates to the USA. During operational deployment he achieved 8 confirmed and 4 unconfirmed victories.
