Bergepanzer VK 36.01(H) (Schweres Abschleppfahrzeug V.Kz. 35.01)

June 20, 1942 it was announced that five prototypes were to be rebuilt by 11/1942 to rescue heavy battle tanks Versuchs-Pz.Kpfw.VK 36.01 with winch Seilwinde 22/40. VK 36.01 (H) was the development branch of the heavy tank program Tiger from the company Henschel. The original plans called for the reconstruction of five prototypes, which were to be converted into rescue vehicles. In a summary report on the state of development projects of 1.6.1942, the Heeres-Waffenamt stated that Famo was entrusted with the development of the design of a heavy-duty towing vehicle and rescue work ( Schweres Abschleppfahrzeug V.Kz. 35.01). A tentative delivery date for four test vehicles was scheduled for spring 1943. On September 25, 1942, Oberstleutnant Kreckel of WaPrüf 6 informed Henschel, that in addition to the chassis of the prototype VK 36.01, four VK 36.01 in the form of rescue vehicles is to be completed as a matter of urgency.
It was planned that the original engine Maybach HL 174 would be replaced by Maybach HL 210 and the rescue machine was to be equipped with a 40-ton winch [i ] Seilwinde 22/40. Despite the apparent need for these machines, no mention has been made as to whether any rescue tank has been completed. Also, there was no mention of these machines in any reports of units armed with heavy tanks Tiger.
