AN/PPS-9
A radar developed in the 1960s. It was introduced into the armament of mechanized, tank and airborne units of the US Army. The system allows the detection of moving targets, evaluating their distance, bearing and position angle. It detects a person at a distance of 3 to 5 km, a moving target the size of a tank or truck at a distance of 8 to 10 km. The target determination error is +/- 50 m (in distance) or +/- 0.5° (in azimuth). The radar is operated by one person who can control it from a safe shelter up to 50 m away. The whole set weighs approximately 2.5 kg.
