General der Infanterie Friedrich Herrlein

Friedrich Herlein began his military career on March 3, 1910, when enlisted in the rank of Fähnrich in the 3rd Guards Infantry Regiment and was sent to the military school in Gdańsk (officer's course in the period 01.06.1910-28.02.1911 ) and was subsequently dismissed in the rank of Lieutenant (lieutenant from 20.03.1911).
In World War I, he served as an aide to the 2nd Reserve Guards Regiment. & # 382; as Oberleutnant (lieutenant since 18.06.1915) was injured d & # 328; and 02.08.1916 and spent the next two months in hospital. After returning to the front, he served in staff positions at the level of regiment, brigade and at the end of September 1918 Hauptmann Herrlein (captain from 20.06.1918) was transferred to the staff of the 224th Infantry Division.

Weimar Republic and Reichswehr
He is called to the service Reichswehr d & # 328; a 01.08.1919, where he is assigned the function of commander of the company at II. battalion of the 68th Infantry Division. The following years commanded the company of the 115th Infantry Regiment (from 30.11.1919), the 15th Company of the 6th Infantry Regiment (from 01.10.1920) and the 6th Company of the 9th Infantry Regiment (from 01.05.1927). D & # 328; a April 1, 1931 is promoted to the rank of major and reassigned to staff positions with the 9th Infantry Regiment. He was transferred to the staff of the Infanterieführer III 18 months later, where he served for a year. D & # 328; and October 1, 1933 he was transferred as an aide to the Wehrmachtskommandantur in Potsdam.

German Empire
From April 1, 1934 he was commander of the 1st Battalion of the 16th Oldenburg Infantry Regiment and four months later he was promoted to the rank of Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel). He is also in charge of the battalion command of the 65th Infantry Regiment in the period from
10/15/1935 to 10/06/1936, when & # 271; becomes commander of the 116th Infantry Regiment. From 01.01.1937 he was promoted to the rank of Oberst (Colonel).

II. world war
With the 116th Infantry Regiment within the 9th Infantry Division, it is participating in the invasion of France on 05/06. 1940. D & # 328; and 01.01.1941 is promoted to the rank of Major General and takes command of the 71st Infantry Division (from 15.02.1941) stationed in France. But u & # 382; at the end of March he was transferred to the 18th Infantry Division (mot.), with which he participated in Operation Barbarossa in the middle section of the front. The division remains and & # 382; to 15.12.1941, then he was transferred to the OKH Leadership Reserve and from February 1942 he was transferred to the staff of OKH. From 12.10.1943 is in the rank of Generalleutnant (General Lieutenant & # 269; ík from 01.09.1942) takes command of LV. army corps fighting on the Eastern Front. On February 1, 1944, Herrlein was promoted to the rank of General der Infanterie and at the beginning of the year he was also entrusted with the command of the so-called Festung Pillau[/i ] in East Prussia (Russian & # 1041; & # 1072; & # 1083; & # 1090; & # 1080; & # 1081; & # 1089; & # 1082 ;, Polish Pi & # 322; awa).
From 06.02.1945 it is again & # 357; included in the OKH Leadership Reserve, since March 1945 he has been entrusted with special tasks within the Army Group South and April 18, 1945 and is captured in the Rhineland by English troops. He was released from captivity and & # 382; 17/05/1948
