Types of bullets used in NSVT 12,7 mm machine gun Two types of bullets are introduced for the NSVT 12.7 mm tank machine gun: (a) PZ-32 penetrating incendiary round - is designed to ignite flammable substances and to destroy enemy live forces hidden behind lightly armoured shelters and to destroy lightly armoured combat equipment at ranges up to 2,000 m and to destroy aerial targets at ranges up to 1,500 m. It consists of a steel casing, a lead jacket and an incendiary component. When the missile strikes the armour, the incendiary component ignites and a flame penetrating through a hole in the armour pierced by the steel core of the missile ignites the combustible substance. The tip of the projectile is painted black with a red stripe. (b) Piercing incendiary illuminating PZSv-44 - is designed, like the previous missile, to ignite flammable substances and to destroy enemy live forces concealed behind lightly armoured shelters and to destroy lightly armoured combat equipment at a range of up to 2 000 m and to destroy aerial targets at a range of up to 1 500 m. It consists of a steel casing, a lead jacket, an incendiary component and a tracer which is designed to control aiming and to facilitate target acquisition when firing against ground and air targets. The illuminated projectile marks the entire flight path of the missile. The tip of the missile is painted purple with a red stripe.
2.Shell It is used to store the powder charge and to join all the parts of the cartridge into one unit. The body of the cartridge case is used to hold the powder charge, the neck to hold the bullet, and the bottom of the cartridge case with the rim is used to catch the cartridge case by the projection of the shell ejector and the jaw of the shell ejector. The bottom of the cartridge case has a bed for the primer which, when struck by the primer, ignites the primer component and two projection channels through which the flame from the primer component penetrates to the powder charge.
3.Matchbox Used to ignite the powder charge. It consists of a brass cap, a striking component and a metal disc protecting the striking component.
4.Powder charge Fills the body of the cartridge case and serves to set the projectile in motion by the energy of the gases formed as it burns.

A pair of NSV machine guns make up the Utes-M turret armament of naval vessels.
After the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the machine gun production capacity remained on the territory of Kazakhstan; for this reason, work began in Russia on the development of a new machine gun using the same cartridge, the production of which would be provided on the territory of Russia. The development was completed in 1998, when the KORD machine gun began production in Russia.
