Při letových zkouškách se projevily problémy
s palivovou instalací - nádrže byly zcela nové, dalším problémem bylo přehřívání motoru.
V květnu 1945 byly již problémy na novém Zeru odstraněny a námořní letectvo jej přijalo do výzbroje.

Brief history :
Towards the end of 1944 the command of the maritime air force (Kaigun Koku Hombu) finally authorized the installation of výkonějšího engine Kinsei into the airframe Reisenu (apparently A6M7 63). The engine had a slightly larger diameter than the engine Sakae 31, therefore, had to be already completely removed the machine guns above the engine, the engine cover was completely new, as well as the fuel tank, the fuel installation, including all valves.
In April was fly the first prototype and the second in June. On the basis of the achieved results reached by the test pilots to the conclusion that this type of Reisenu can outmaneuver Hellcata and seriously compromise even the B-29.
Under the elimination of childhood diseases in may 1945, the aircraft was accepted into the equipment as "on-Board fighter aircraft Type 0 Model 64".
Already in 1944, before the completion of the production of prototypes Kaigun Koku Hombu had planned and ordered the production of 6 300 pcs of these Reisenů - made, no.
