Operational history:
Started to be built as a cruiser Dayton in December 1941, the service has entered in June, 1943 and got to the first combat actions for Gilbertových islands in November 1943. Monterey has won 11 of the stars for martial campaign, including the attack on Truk, battles in the Philippine sea and Leyte, the invasion of Okinawa and the final raids on Japan. As a service to cut damage in a typhoon in December 1944, after the correction in the U.S. she returned to action at Okinawa. 1947 odzbrojena, back in the service in 1950, and until 1955 served as the school's aircraft carrier.
