Frigate KD Rahmat has served with the Malaysian royal navy from 1971 until 2004, when it was taken out of service. The year 2011 was converted into a museum and is currently open to the public in the town of Lumut, which is by the way the main base of the navy.

For the civilian population is Lumut significant in particular, from where the ferries leave for the nearby island of Pangkor, which is a favorite place of local germans. In the busy heart of the city, there are no indicators or signs that would have informed, that for the vast coastal park lies the maritime museum. Although the town through the daily number of tourists, the KD Rahmat will not issue one. The ship is nowhere to see, it will appear only after passing through the 800m long park. And so while from the bus to the ferry streamed crowds of people in the museum, I was alone (not counting if in a booth dozing clerk ticket).

The visitor can walk through the great part of the ship, although some of the spaces are open, but dammed chain. Concise labels to individual kajutám and interesting parts of the ship are in English. Unfortunately, information about the history and operation of missing completely. In one cabin I found only a few framed photographs, without text.

3. June 2017 to hull entered the water, and the ship leaned to the port side. Water reportedly penetrated into the ship spaces, which was in poor technical condition. At present, KD Rahmat repaired and once again made available.

Something else to the name of the ship, KD is the abbreviation Kapal Diraja, the royal ship. Rahmat means "blessing", or something to that effect..
