The presidency at greatest extend included present-day Indian State of Tamil Nadu, the Malabar region of North Kerala, the Lakshadweep Islands, the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh, the Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangapur and Malkangiri districts of southern Odisha and the Bellary, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi districts of Karnataka and the parts of Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem districts of Telangana.
- The island of Ceylon was a part of Madras Presidency from 1793 to 1798 when it was created a Crown colony.
