At the age of 39 years, the day after his birthday he died of war veteran master sergeant Jaroslav Mevald. Mevald have been memred missions in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was seriously injured when hit by an RPG, when it was hit by the turret of the armored vehicle in which he was, despite the serious injuries, especially head, returned the enemy fire, thereby providing cover for his comrades in arms. And for this act he was later awarded the medal For heroism. After convalescence he was trying to return to active service, but was not found to be medically fit, and therefore had to quit.
