Romanian infantry fighting vehicle modification BMP-1.
The most notable modification is the installation of a machine gun DŠKM in the left rear of the hull for shooting low-flying targets or helicopters. In addition, an L-2G infrared gunner's searchlight is mounted in the gun axis of the turret to increase the success rate of hitting targets at night to a range of 800 meters. On the right side of the turret is the TKN-1M-22 infrared telescope, which was originally located in front of the commander's hatch. Compared to the original BMP-1, the MLI-84 is longer, and its weight has increased by approximately 3 tons.
As of 1 January 2002, the Romanian Army had 177 MLI-84s in service.
