Reconstruction Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.A was created in the company Alkett series 51 vehicles Munitionsschlepper I Ausf.A. The towers were removed from the cars and the battle area was modified to transport boxes of ammunition. The opening after the removed tower was closed with a 6 mm thick lid, which opened outwards. A special trailer was used to increase the capacity of the transported material/ammunition. Ammunition weighing 1,050 kg could be transported in a tractor and ammunition trailer.
In the French campaign, it is known to assign one platoon Sturmbatterie 660 armed StuG III Ausf.A (April 14, 1940) and one platoon to 3 .Panzer-Division (4/15/1940).
After the French campaign, on October 14, 1940, a large unit of Mun.Trsp.Abt.610 began to be organized, consisting of three companies, each with five squads of five ammunition trucks, supplemented by one tank. Probably only two companies Mun.Trsp.Kp.601 and Mun.Trsp.Kp.603 were equipped with tractors. March 27, 1941 Mun.Trsp.Abt.610 was transformed into 614.Flakpanzer-Battalion (mot.), Where 24 ammunition vehicles were converted to anti - aircraft vehicles with mounted anti - aircraft cannon 2 cm Flak 38.
