In 1928, the Tatra company was awarded MNO order No. 17 608 Taj. V/3 sec. 1928 for the development of a new armoured car. The chassis was taken from the Tatra T-17/31. The original two-axle chassis was supplemented with a third axle. A box body made of 5.5 mm thick steel plates was mounted on the chassis. A 650 mm high conical turret was mounted on the ceiling of the body, which had a pair of openings for the installation of armament. Heavy armament was to be rigged in the front opening. It was considered to mount a 37 mm cannon, or a 14.5 or 20 mm machine gun. The light machine gun ZB vz.26 was to be laffeted in the side opening.
The prototype was delivered to the VTU (Military Technical Institute) on 8.8.1929 and was subsequently subjected to several tests over several years. The vehicle was judged to be heavy and tall and thus had poorer manoeuvrability and was unstable in the field.
The vehicle was kept in Czechoslovak Army condition under the registration number N IX-257, later in 1933 it was given a new registration number 13.354. In the same year the vehicle was handed over to the Assault Carriage School in Milovice. At the apprenticeship the vehicle served for training tasks until 1938, when the vehicle was discontinued.
