Walter Koch was born 10. September 1910 in Bonn. In April 1929 he joined as a lieutenant to the provincial police. After the formation of the Weckeho police squad for special uses became its national. Service several times changed his name and eventually he was under the name of the regiment general Göring transferred to the air force. Passed to him and Koch. In April 1938 he was promoted to captain and at the end of the following year, entrusted with the command of the of the test section Friedrichshafen, which was soon renamed employing koch's postulates assault section. The aim of the unit should be kluzákový raid strategic positions in Belgium after vypknutí the battle of France. Specifically, it was about the conquest of the modern belgian fortress of Eben-Emael and the cast of the bridges at Veldwezelt, Vroenhoevenu and Kanne.
