The small museum was created during the Soviet era, when the exposition was dedicated to celebrating the victory of the Red Army in World War II. Since then, the museum has not changed much, only a small display case has been added to commemorate the fighting in Abkhazia and South Ossetia in the 1990s and the Russian aggression in 2008, which was mostly suffered by the city of Gori.

In one large room and two smaller ones, there are bulletin boards with photographs from the Second World War on the walls, showing the development of events and battles, of course from the point of view of the Red Army and through the propaganda optics of the time of the exhibition. Several showcases display objects and documents related to the participation of Georgians in the Red Army and various war trophies, such as German badges and insignia, or artistically rendered jars with clay from the battlefields where the Red Army passed through. Several uniforms are on display in a small room. Also on display is a Maxim 1910 heavy machine gun, 120mm regimental mortar of the 1938 PM-38 and a shot through helmet of a Soviet soldier.

One corner near the museum's exit is dedicated to the conflicts in Georgia in the 1990s and 2008. Photos of soldiers (victims?), a photo of a destroyed town in 2008 after an attack by the Russian army, and a folded uniform in a display case. Unfortunately, the captions are only in Georgian and sometimes in Russian.

Several pieces of found Russian munitions are stacked near the cash register, such as a cluster bomb RBK-500 AO-2, 5RTM. Outside the museum is a memorial to the victims of World War II and in front of it are marble plaques with the names of Georgians killed in the battles for Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The museum is located on Stalin Square, at the opposite end from the Stalin Museum.
