The aircraft Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX, reg. D-FMKN, was damaged during an emergency landing into a field at Woodchurch, Ashford, County Kent. The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing due to an engine problem. The left wing literally snapped off on landing. The aircraft was originally a single-seater, belonging to Jacques Remlinger. It was converted to a two-seater in 1950.
