Machine R.XIVa were the last bombers to the R series built in the Staakenu. It was an improved variant of the R.XIV, modified due to the improvement dostupu. Due to the fact the engines were fitted with reduction, and weight has been reduced by changes in the internal structure, by removing the střelišť from the top of the wing and the fairing of the bomb bay. The only other larger change have been corner-balanced, high-rise helm.

Idflieg ordered four machines, which have received the serial numbers of R69 to R72. For programme production, it was not possible to use all the design changes on the R69, R70 already but not fully match the new lightened variant. R69 was the air force handed over 19. October 1919 and he missed his combat service. R 70 and R71 have been completed sometime at the end of the year or the beginning of the year 1919, and it is not known whether he had completed R72. In 1919 he was R69 leased to the Ukrainian government to transfer money to Ukraine, and was seized by the Mezispojeneckou control commission on the return flight at the vienna airport in Ošprech and subsequently handed over to the Italian government. R70 and R71 also flew between Germany and Ukraine for the transport of money. R70 was 19. September 1919 seized by the Romanian government after an emergency landing in Bessarabia, R71 burned down after a crash with a unknown cause in a forest near the silesian Ratiboře in the summer of the same year.

The other three machines, R84-R86, were ordered at the company Schütte-Lanz in the price of the 600000 mark each, no but it wasn't before the end of the war completed. In January 11919 machines were R84 and R85 of the three-quarters finished, the remaining machine then waited for the build. Eventually was completed only R84, the next instant he was but with both of rozestavěnými siblings scrapped, in accordance with the terms of the truce, and also that it did not fall into allied hands.
